It also answers a simple craving. How do you make something familiar taste exciting again?

A Modern Twist on a Classic

This staple is known for its flaky layers and rich taste. Aloo paratha, stuffed with spiced potatoes, is one of the most loved versions.

Viraj’s peri peri version changes the flavour profile completely. The addition of peri peri masala brings heat, tang, and a smoky edge.

With over 2.5 million views, this recipe leans into a growing appetite for stronger, punchier flavours.

The caption reads: “Peri Peri Aloo Paratha but make it bold, spicy and totally addictive!

“A simple mix of peri peri masala with the aloo stuffing completely changes the flavour, making it more chatpata, vibrant and perfect for modern-day cravings while still keeping that Desi comfort intact.

“Save this to try something new with your regular paratha.”

It feels sharper and more vibrant, but still delivers the same comforting bite. That balance is what makes it work.

The process stays close to a traditional aloo paratha, which makes it easy to follow. The main difference is adding peri peri masala into the potato filling, instantly elevating the flavour.

Everything else follows the usual method, so it remains accessible for anyone trying it at home.

Ingredients

  • 3 Potatoes, boiled
  • 50g Cheddar cheese
  • 50g Paneer
  • 2 Onions, finely chopped
  • Green chillies, finely chopped
  • Coriander leaves, finely chopped
  • Peri peri masala
  • Chaat masala
  • Kashmiri red chilli powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Lemon juice
  • 240g Flour
  • Oil, butter, or ghee

Method

  1. Grate the cheese and paneer into the boiled potatoes.
  2. Add the finely chopped onions, green chillies, coriander leaves, peri peri masala, chaat masala, Kashmiri red chilli powder, salt to taste and lemon juice.
  3. Mix everything well and prepare the dough.
  4. Place the some of the filling into the centre of the dough. Roll the dough into a ball to seal the filling.
  5. On a dry surface, roll out the dough into a thin circle.
  6. Place on a hot tawa and cook for one minute or when it starts to go golden.
  7. Flip over and spread butter or ghee over the surface.
  8. Flip again, spreading butter or ghee over the surface.
  9. Once golden, flip a final time. When the paratha begins to puff up, remove from the tawa and place on a plate.
  10. Serve with pickle or yoghurt.

This peri peri aloo paratha recipe proves that you do not need to reinvent a dish to make it exciting.

A small, bold addition can completely shift the experience. It keeps the comfort of a Desi staple intact while bringing in flavours that feel current and global.
